Established in 1984, St. Vincent’s Foundation has raised more than $120 million – in partnership with generous donors – to support new programs, education, equipment, technology, and capital expansion across St. Vincent’s. We also address the special needs of our patients and their family members.

In 2024, St. Vincent’s Foundation transferred to UAB Health System and became UAB St. Vincent’s Foundation. The transition represents a significant step toward enhancing healthcare services in our community.

As a donor, you can express appreciation for the extraordinary care you received. Philanthropic support plays a critical role in our ability to serve our patients and ensure the health and well-being of our community. Generosity heals.

About UAB St. Vincent’s
In 1898, the Daughters of Charity answered the call of the Holy Spirit – and the pleas of Father Patrick O’Reilly – to bring healthcare to Birmingham. For more than a century, St. Vincent’s physicians, nurses, and care teams have dedicated their lives to providing compassionate, personalized care for those most in need throughout our community. In 2024, St. Vincent’s became UAB St. Vincent’s to increase Alabamians’ access to high-quality, innovative medical care and help patients receive the right care at the right time and place.

UAB St. Vincent’s offers full-service hospitals and medical centers with 24/7 emergency care. We deliver advanced surgical care for serious and life-threatening injuries and illnesses. Our care teams listen to quickly understand your health needs and deliver care that’s right for you. UAB St. Vincent’s is a destination for specialty care — including heart care, brain and spine care, cancer care, laser eye surgery, orthopedics and sports medicine, weight loss, and women’s health.

Publications

Spring 2024 Newsletter CoverThe Vigil is published biannually for friends and supporters of UAB St. Vincent’s Foundation. The name references Sisters’ Vigil, the iron and steel sculpture that commemorates the arrival of the first four Daughters of Charity who founded St. Vincent’s Hospital in 1898. A replica of the statue greets visitors at UAB St. Vincent’s facilities. The name also serves as a reminder of the watchful role of generous individuals, families, corporations, and foundations in supporting our health system. The vigilance of our donors and benefactors renews the original call to serve and sustains UAB St. Vincent’s unique commitment to the value of each person as unity of mind, body, and spirit.
